Rockborne’s CEO, Waseem Ali, was featured in AI for Business; a new report on artificial intelligence published by Raconteur and The Times.
The report explores the world of AI since the explosion of its worldwide interest following the mainstream release of ChatGPT, as well as the way in which businesses have been looking at implementing the technology.
A particularly interesting section of the report focuses on the role of Chief AI Officer. In March, the White House announced that all federal agencies in the US would have to appoint a chief AI officer to strengthen their governance in respect of the technology.
Enterprises have been exploring following suit – but how would this work in today’s market?
“CAIOs are a scarce and costly commodity…we’re not seeing many on the market,” says Waseem. “The ones we can see are working mostly in fintech and healthtech, but we’re also starting to see e-commerce companies and some insurance firms that are algorithmically driven hiring them too.
“Perhaps more interestingly, we’re seeing CDOs simply absorbing that AI remit, while others are turning their CDO into a CAIO. You don’t see that conversation happen as much with CIOs or CTOs unless they have a data remit.”
